Welcome To Manchester United - Angel Di Maria

In the past two hours, Manchester United have completed the signing of Argentina star Angel Di Maria for a British record transfer fee of £59.7 million, on a 5 year contract.
The record was perviously held by Fernando Torres when he moved from Liverpool to Chelsea for £50 million.
The 26 year old is Louis Van Gaal's fourth signing of the summer, increasing their Summer spending to a whopping £131.7 million!

Louis Van Gaal described Di Maria as a, "World class player" and went on to say,

"There is no doubting his immense natural talent. He is tremendously fast and incisive left-footed player who puts fear into the most accomplished defence. His dribbling skills and his ability to take on and beat opponents are a joy to watch. He is an excellent addition to the team."

Van Gaal also referred to him as a,"World class midfielder," and "most importantly he is a team player."

Di Maria started his career at Rosario Central and stayed there from 2005-2007. He then moved to Benfica for around £7 million where he stayed until 2010.
He made 76 appearances and scored 7 goals.
In 2010 Di Maria moved to one of the legendary Spanish giants, Real Madrid where he played 124 games and scored 22.

Now he has moved to Manchester United, and we have no idea what's ahead...

During his incredible club football, he has played for the Argentinian first team since 2008. So far he has played 52 games and scored 10 goals. (up to date as of the 26th August 2014.)

Manchester United Draw with The Black Cats

V

Louis Van Gaal, who was wanting to improve from his 2-1 defeat to Swansea City last Saturday, managed only a 1-1 draw with Sunderland.
The game was played at The Stadium Of Light and kicked of at 16.00 hours.

It was a very quick start for Manchester United, Juan Mata scored in the 17th minute. It was a close ranged shot assisted by Antonio Valencia.
A few chances followed but in the 30th minute Sunderland's new signing from Manchester City Jack Rodwell equalised with a header from the centre of the box, assisted from a corner by Sebastian Larsson.

13 minutes later United made a substitution, off came Chris Smalling, because of an injury and on came the young star Michael Keane.

Half time: Sunderland 1-1 Manchester United.

After kick off a few chances were created by both sides, but at 61minutes Ashley Young was shown a yellow card.
One minute later Robin Van Persie, who has just come back from injury, was replaced by Danny Welbeck.
Adnan Januzaj also replaced the Scottish midfielder Darren Fletcher.
Meanwhile, Sunderland brought on Jordi Gomez, who arrived on the 1st July 2014 on a free transfer from Wigan, and he replaced the goal scorer Jack Rodwell.

After another 4 minutes Tom Cleverly was shown a yellow card for a bad foul.
At the 76 and the 78th minute Sunderland made two changes, Jozy Altidore came on for Steven Fletcher and Liam Bridcutt replaced William Buckley.
A couple more chances were created by both sides but all were squandered and the match ended Sunderland 1-1 Manchester United.

Transfer Rumour - Angel Di Maria Linked to Manchester United

According to numerous reports Angel Di Maria, the Madrid Star, has told new Argentinian defender Marcos Rojo that he wants to join Manchester United.
Rojo is one of Di Maria's international team mates. Also, according to some newspapers, United are setting up a bid of around £60 million.
Di Maria is set to be left out of the Real Madrid team tonight. He has also requested to leave Madrid.

But Manchester United are not the only team linked with Di Maria, Arsenal and Paris Saint Germain are also interested.
If these reports are true then lets hope his wish is granted and he comes to Old Trafford.

A bit of other team news, Rojo will not play against Sunderland because he does not have a work permit.

Injury News For Manchester United

Making lots of headlines are the midfield duo-Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera who both acquired ankle injuries. Fellani will have a scan today which will rule him out for tomorrows game against Sunderland.
Manchester United have seven injured players who are Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellani, Jesse Lingard, Luke Shaw, Johnny Evans and Anotonio Valencia who is back in training but not in consideration for a starting spot.

But there is some good news Robin Van Persie is
fit to play who missed the opening game against Swansea.

Breaking News- Louis Van Gaal Refuses To Comment on Welbecks Manchester United Future

Louis Van Gaal refuses to comment on Danny Welbeck's future at the club.
The 23 year old apparently held discussions with Van Gaal. This is what Van Gaal had to say:

"The Press are talking, I know what I have said to Danny and Danny knows exactly what I said to him. I think the media is guessing-they were not in the room. I won't speak about it. That is private.
I presume Danny is not saying anything about our conversation. Ryan Giggs was also involved in the conversation and he hasn't said anything either, and I think that's the way it should be. I am happy with it this way."

Danny has scored 29 goals in 139 games and made his debut against Middlesborough at Old Trafford on the 23rd September 2008.

Will he stay or will he go? Put your thoughts in the comments page.

Welcome To Manchester United - Marcos Rojo!

Manchester United have officially signed the young, 24 year old, Argentinian defender Marcos Rojo on a five year contract for £16 million, plus a season long loan for Nani going the other way back to Sporting Lisbon, his old club.

We had the pleasure of watching his brilliant potential at the World Cup 2014 playing with Argentina as he helped them to the final and earlier in the competition he scored against Nigeria in their 3-2 win.
Manchester United will have to pay £4.8 million pounds in total for Nani's wages .

Rojo will wear the number 5 shirt which the Manchester United Legend Rio Ferdinand wore before his recent moved to QPR.

Courtesy of the Manchester United Official Website click here for a full interview with Rojo.

Rojo is Louis Van Gaal's third signing of the summer. Luke Shaw arrived from Southampton for a fee around £27 million pounds, one of the biggest ever fees for a defender. He is 19 years old but is currently out for about a month with a hamstring injury.

Then from Athletic Bilbao the 25 year old from Spain Ander Herrera joined and looked very impressive in Pre season plus he did pretty well against Swansea City, starting to prove his worth of £30 million.

Louis Van Gaal's Nightmare Manchester United Start

The first game of the 2014/2015 campaign couldn't have started worse for Manchester United.
It was Louis Van Gaal's first ever Premier League game, against Swansea City at the, 'Theatre Of Dreams', Old Trafford.
The game kicked off at 12:45 PM.
It started extremely badly for Jesse Lingard, on his Premier League debut he was injured at twenty minutes so Adnan Januzaj replaced him with his new number eleven shirt.
26 minutes through Nathan Dyer got the first yellow card of the new season (not something to boast about!)
After an eventful first 27 minutes you could sense a goal was coming.
One minute afterwards Ki Sung-Yueng (who had a successful loan spell at Sunderland last season) scored a fabulous one touch finish which was assisted by new signing Gylfi Sigurdsson and opened the scoring in Swansea's favour.
There were a few chances before half time but all were squandered.
0-1 Swansea at the break.

Half Time substitute, Nani (who is reported by Sky Sports and BBC sport is part of an exchange with Marcos Rojo, the Argentinian player who performed excellently to get Argentina into the World Cup final, and scored in the build up to the final. It is reported Nani is only going on loan to Sporting Lisbon, his old club. Lisbon and United seem to have agreed a deal around about £16 million pounds prier to a medical ) replaces Javier Hernández (who is rumoured to go with Shinji Kagawa to Atletico Madrid for a combined fee in the region of £25 million)

Whatever Louis Van Gaal said at half time improved the overall performance.
Neil Taylor was booked for a cynical foul three minutes after the restart.
Then after 53 minutes Rooney scored a superb acrobatic bicycle kick. 1-1.
Substitution for Swansea at 53 minutes Dwight Tiendalli replaced Neil Taylor.
Then Jonjo Shelvey goes into the referees notebook for a challenge at 54 minutes.
Then in the 67th minute a substitution is made for both sides.
The new, extremely quick, signing Jefferson Montero replaced the already booked Nathan Dyer. Then for Manchester United Marouane Fellani (Rumoured to have a loan move to Napoli which he would prefer to be permanent, but if it was a loan deal Manchester United would have to pay half of his weekly wages every week, which could sway Manchester United to sell him permanently) replaced Ander Herrera the new signing who played his first Premier league game after arriving from Athletic Bilbao for in the region of £28 million.
In the 72nd minute disaster with a capital D.
Gylfi Sigurdsson who recently signed for Swansea from Tottenham for £6.8 million shot from the centre of the box and it found the net scruffily, assisted by Wayne Routledge.
77 minutes through and Swansea make a substitute, new signing Bafétimbi Gomis, who recently arrived from Leon on a free transfer, replaced Wilfred Bony.
Then for a bad foul the first goalscorer Ki Sung-Yueng was shown a yellow card. A minute later Premier League Debutant Tyler Blackett, who put in a solid performance, was shown a yellow. Obviously 80 plus minutes wasn't a time for discipline, because Ashley Young who looks to have become a different player over the pre season tour, was shown a yellow for a bad foul.
There were six minutes added time, could Manchester United scrape a draw?
No.
Final score Manchester United 1-2 Swansea.
This was Manchester United first opening day defeat at home since 1972...
